About Us & The Founder

Who we are...

Welcome to Students Combating Bullying Connection, Inc. (SCBC).
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a simple but urgent mission: to give youth and young adults the tools to stand strong in a world that too often tears them down. For us, it’s not only about stopping bullying — it’s about building resilience, courage, and confidence. We equip students with the life skills they need to face peer pressure, social media, conflict, and the daily challenges that can break their spirit. At SCBC, they learn how to manage emotions, resolve conflict peacefully, build healthy relationships, and stand up — for themselves and for others.

Our Mission
We prepare the next generation to lead with kindness, strength, and wisdom. Through The Connection Club, our signature program, students develop social-emotional learning (SEL) and conflict management skills that carry them from the classroom to college to the workforce.

Beyond Bullying
Bullying may be the starting point, but our vision is much bigger. We guide students through real-life struggles — from low self-esteem and negative peer influence to the pressures of social media and the need for safe, supportive spaces. Every session builds confidence, self-worth, and the belief that they are not alone.

At SCB Connection, we don’t just fight against bullying. We fight for futures

Who's the Visionary?

In 2014, Demetré Bivins founded Students Combating Bullying Connection, Inc. (SCBC) out of a deep passion for empowering youth and young adults. With a bachelor’s in Management, a master’s in Conflict Management, and over 20 years of Human Resources leadership, she brings unmatched expertise in conflict resolution, leadership development, and education.

Demetré’s journey is rooted in both faith and service. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. since 1996, she has devoted decades to mentoring at-risk youth, leading The Connection Club, and shaping community initiatives across schools and city boards. In 2023, she stepped away from corporate life to support her son’s entrepreneurial ventures while expanding her mission through SCBC.

She is also the author of Dream Team, a children’s book written for middle school students that teaches empathy through Matthew 7:12, the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Her life’s work is simple yet powerful: to create safe spaces where young people build resilience, find their voice, and rise above bullying. Under her leadership, SCBC stands as a beacon of hope, blending professional expertise, community service, and the heart of a mother dedicated to the next generation.
