Welcome to Students Combating Bullying Connection, Inc. (SCB Connection), a dynamic 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to going beyond the conventional approach in supporting the holistic growth of youth and young adults. Our mission is not just about combating bullying; it's about empowering the next generation with essential life skills to navigate the complexities of life successfully.
Our Mission:
At SCB Connection, our mission is to ignite the potential of youth and young adults through transformative experiences offered by our signature program, The Connection Club. By collaborating closely with families and guardians, we aim to create lasting, life-changing impacts that empower young individuals to overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop meaningful connections that last a lifetime. Together, we’re building a brighter future, one child at a time.
At the heart of SCB Connection's initiatives is The Connection Club, a community-based program designed to bring social-emotional learning (SEL) and conflict management skills directly to local neighborhoods. Through our Community Implementation model, we partner with spaces like YMCAs, libraries, and churches to create safe, supportive environments for youth. The Connection Club focuses on combating bullying by empowering participants with tools to understand their emotions, communicate effectively, and stand up against bullying behaviors.
We foster empathy, teach assertiveness, and help students develop the confidence to resolve conflicts peacefully. Our mission is to create a culture of respect and kindness where every child feels included and valued. By providing these resources within the community, we ensure that children and teens have a place to turn for support, whether they’re facing bullying or simply seeking to build stronger, healthier relationships with their peers.
Program Competencies: The Connection Club hones two essential competencies: Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Conflict Management. These skills empower participants to become resilient, well-rounded individuals capable of navigating life’s challenges—whether in school, college, or the workforce. Through a focus on SEL, students learn to manage their emotions, build strong relationships, and make responsible decisions. Conflict management equips them with the tools to resolve disagreements peacefully, fostering a respectful environment. Together, these competencies also play a key role in combating bullying, helping students stand up for themselves and others while promoting kindness and inclusion.
Beyond Bullying: While our foundation is built on combating bullying, The Connection Club goes far beyond by tackling a broad spectrum of social challenges that youth and young adults face every day. From managing peer pressure and boosting self-esteem to setting healthy boundaries on social media and fostering positive relationships, our program equips participants with the practical tools they need to thrive. We prepare them not just to stand against bullying but to navigate the complexities of modern life with confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
Welcome to the inspiring genesis of Students Combating Bullying Connection, Inc., a visionary endeavor founded by Demetré Bivins in August 2014. This initiative was born out of her passion to empower youth and young adults while addressing the pervasive issue of bullying. Demetré brings a wealth of expertise, backed by a bachelor’s degree in Management and a master’s degree in Conflict Management, alongside over 20 years of impactful Human Resources experience.
Her professional journey has been deeply rooted in conflict management, leadership development, educational content creation, and training facilitation. An active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority, since 1996, Demetré's commitment to service extends beyond her professional life into her community efforts.
In 2023, Demetré made a decision through faith to resign from her corporate career to assist her son in opening Franklin Books and running Franklin the Helper Children's Books, LLC. This career shift allowed her to continue making a meaningful difference in her son's entrepreneurial journey while also nurturing her own passion for empowering youth.
Her extensive community involvement includes serving on boards such as the John W. Carpenter Elementary School Site-Based Decision-Making Committee, the City of Arlington, Texas Diversion Advisory, and the Your Voice Foundation. She has spent years teaching programs like The Enrichment Program, mentoring at-risk students, tutoring for standardized tests, and guiding youth on social media awareness.
Through her visionary leadership and dedication, SCB Connection, Inc. aspires to create a nurturing environment that promotes personal growth, resilience, and the fight against bullying. Demetré's journey reflects a commitment to uplifting future generations while seamlessly blending her expertise, community service, and personal devotion as a mother and leader.
Welcome to SCB Connection, Inc., where passion, service, and empowerment converge to create lasting change.
