The Devereux Students Strengths Assessment (DESSA) is a widely utilized standardized, strength-based measure of the social and emotional competencies of students. The assessment is multifaceted and is best utilized when participants attend The Connection Club in its entirety.
2022 aggregate data across multiple implementations for junior high and high school participants resulted in: 39% of participant T-scores increased from Typical to Strength; where these participants started the program with moderate to high social emotional competency. Additionally, 60% of participant T-scores increased from Need to Typical; where these participants started the program with low social emotional competency.
The Connection Club's Social Emotional Learning curriculum was developed by School-Connect. This organization’s mission is focused on seeking to foster academic engagement, enhance social and emotional competencies, reduce risk behaviors, and facilitate supportive relationships.
